Services

Social affairs section sub-division.

* Determines if an individual coping with mental health issues and facing a criminal charge represents a significant threat for public safety.

* Decides on the measures that must be taken to control the threat: release or detention and reviews hearing at least once a year in order to determine whether his mental condition has changed over that time period.

* Rules on the cases regarding the Act respecting the protection of persons whose mental state presents a danger to themselves or to others.
